Location of semi-rigid connections effect on the seismic performance of steel frame structures

چکیده

In design steel frames, combining semi-rigid and rigid connections can result in better structural performance, particularly seismic locations. this study, the effects of beam-to-column located on performance frame structures are investigated. The analysis uses six twelve-story moment resisting frames (MRSF) with rigid, semi-rigid, dual beam-column connections. These designed according to Egyptian codes. Drain-2Dx computer program seven earthquake ground motions used non-linear dynamic analysis. rotational stiffness is indicated through end fixity factors a value equal 0.6. performances these evaluated roof drift ratio (RDR), maximum story ratios (SDR), column axial compression force (MACF). results that quantities fundamental periods, ratio, related stiffness, rigidity, number frames.

Static and dynamic nonlinear analysis of steel frame with semi-rigid connections

One of the important issues in the study of steel frames is to find a suitable formulation for semi-rigid connections. In this paper, the explicit stiffness matrix for a two-dimensional beam-column element having end-flexibilities is derived. The effects of the lateral uniformly distributed load on the deflection are considered. Both tensile and compressive axial loads are also taken into accou...

Effect of Fling-Step on Seismic Response of Steel Eccentrically Braced Frame Structures

Fling-step and forward directivity are two important characteristics of near-field earthquakes. Forward directivity occurs when the rupture propagates toward the site and arises in fault‐normal direction for strike‐slip faults. Fling-step is the consequence of permanent ground displacement imposed by near-field earthquakes and arises in strike-slip faults in the strike parallel direction. Fling...

Effect of column-foundation connection stiffness on seismic performance of rocking steel braced frame

Residual drifts after severe earthquakes interrupt serviceability of buildings. Retrofitting of such buildings is in many cases very difficult and consumes lots of time and money. Recently, there are some attempts to develop the seismic design procedures to not only satisfy life safety criteria but also lead to more economical buildings. One of these modern methods of improving seismic performa...
